Mechanics
Mechanics is one of the oldest branches of physics, with a history stretching back to the ancients' ideas about motion. In this topic we shall really get to grips with the main Newtonian concepts of forces, momentum and acceleration, and banish all vestiges of pre-Newtonian thinking from our world-view.
Notes
In lessons we shall discuss any questions and go through examples mainly. For each lesson, you must either
- hand in a reading memo on paper at the beginning of the lesson, or
- complete an online reading memo via the MIT interface by 9.30 p.m. the evening before the lesson.
